Format of form 16 for a.y - 2012-2013

22 May 2012 DEAR EXPERTS,

Currently the facility of Downloading Form 16 is also provided in TIN-NSDL. We have downloaded the same. But the Certificate does not show the break up of Basic, DA, Allowances and Perks and Chapter VIA deductions etc., as it was shown in earlier Form - 16.

Now my doubt is - is it ok if we issue the Form - 16 downloaded from TIN-NSDL alone or do we need to provide the Form in earlier Format only?

Is there any notification for Change of the Format of Form 16?

23 May 2012 The NSDL generates the FORM 16 as per data e-filed with them.

Seems you have erred in giving salaries and its break up data while e-filing your return for 4th Qtr.

You can issue correct FORM 16 as done so far.

But also care that as data e-filed is wrong so TDS Deptt can raise additional demand of TDS plus interest. The NSDL system will work out tax liability on Gross salaries (without considering the allowances and deductions)and so demand shall be raised.

Recently I have passed through this problem.
