Dear sir,
What is the difference between formIV and RG23ApartI ??. Is both are mandatory ??. There are mine few friends who are maintaining either Form IV or RG23APartI.
I too maintaining RG23APartI only (not Form IV). Is is right??? Please reply.

RG23A Part 1 is maintained for cenvat availed materials and form IV is for non-excisable inputs for the production of your end product.
The department is not insisting that form IV is to be maintained and they say if any of the stock book is maintained under any Act in the format of Form IV is acceptable.
