27 February 2018 Dear Sir,
One of my client is govt employed and had received salary arrears in this Feb of rs 255000. His income for
FY 2015-16 - 140000
FY 2016-17- 160000

So he had not filed any ITR till now, Now for claiming relief u/s 89 for arrears received in current year, He needs to file form 10 E

My question is that whether first he need to file ITR for 15-16 and 16-17 fy and then 10 e and then after 31st march current year return claiming all deduction u.s 89

Or something else need to do. Please reply my query with proper series of action to be taken

27 February 2018 Not mandatory to file his ITRs for FY 2015-2016 and FY 2016-2017 as his Employer would have already prepared FOrm 16 for his PAN for the above years.

He can proceed to file form 10 E in the usual manner and then file current year's ITR

28 February 2018 This will be done after 31st march na... And after 10e he will have to file his itr to claim releif

28 February 2018 Yes. Since the Arrears was received only in current year, Form 10E can be filed only after 31st March 2018
