30 May 2012 A wanna know about Can any person open a fixed deposit(F.D) account without having saving a/c.
can open PPF a/c any SBI . bank branch refused to open PPF say it will be open only main SBI branch.

30 May 2012 1. yes FD can be done without saving a/c
2. PPF can be opened at designated branches only

30 May 2012 1. Banks now insist that the customer should have a bank account with the bank if he wants to open a FDR.

The banks do not open FDR in cash. It has to be through a bank account onlt.

2. PPF account is opened only with the main branch of SBI.

30 May 2012 if u go with Bank Of Baroda, or SBI, DenaBank than they can open FD without Savings account. Mostly the public banks will do that...not sure abt ABN, ICICI..
