Filing of time barred itr - notice by compliance mgt cell

10 August 2013 Friends,
Assessee has received notice from 'COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT CELL' of Income tax dept for AY 2009-10, 2010-11 & 2011-12.
ITR filing for AY 2009-10 & 2010-11 are time-barred as in August 2013.
This is not a notice for filing return u/s 142(1).
Can the assessee e-file time-barred ITR's or physical filing is needed?

10 August 2013 In pursuance to the inquiry letters time barred returns can not be filed.

AO wants to get himself with non-filing of the returns and if the "satisfactory" reply is given by the assessee, no further action is initiated.

AO wants to get himself satisfied with the reasons of non-filing of the returns and if the "satisfactory" reply is given by the assessee, no further action is initiated. The main points are - proper ground and satisfaction of AO.
