22 May 2009 DEAR EXPERT

IN THE RECENT CIRCULAR OF CBDT IT IS STATED THAT THE ASSESSEE WHO IS FILING E-RETURN WITHOUT DIGITAL SIGNATURE NEEDS TO FILE ITR-V THROUGH MAIL TO BANGALORE.

MY QUESTION IS NOW CAN'T WE FILE ITR-V IN SUCH CASES AT THE LOCAL INCOME TAX OFFICE AS WE WERE DOING IN EARLIER YEAR.

22 May 2009 No, As per CicularNo:3/2009 para 10, you have to Post the ITR-V to Income Tax Department -CPC,Post Box No:01, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore-560100, Karnataka, in A4 size envelope and not to fold the same. No Form ITR-V shall be received in any other office of the Income Tax Department or in any other manner.

23 May 2009 You can personally file return of your income at the income tax office or if you want to sent is by post then send it to banglore office.
