07 July 2009 Hi, I am a salaried person and i dont have taxable income after all deductions for the year FY 2008-09. Can i file nil return? And also i request to give details for efiling for my tax return.

07 July 2009 NIL returns ; - No need to be file the return.

and IT-Dept person do not accept the NIL returns at their counter.

07 July 2009 please be carefull if before claiming any deduction your income cross the minimum exemption limit than you are liably to file return.

07 July 2009 Hi,
If your income is above the basic exemption limit before claiming deductions under chapter VIA i.e. LIC, Housing loan rep, NSC etc then it is compulsory to file return whether or not your income after deduction is less than basic exemption limit. Even if it is Nil you will have to file your return.
