19 August 2008 Returns are paper less. Therefore filing of audit report separately is compulsory in case of all assessee or not?

Is previous year circular no. 5/2007 dated 26-07-2007 (regarding non-filing of audit report) is applicable for assessment year 2008-09 or not?

22 August 2008 Yes, ofcourse as the details of audit report (such as date of report, name of the auditor, etc.,.) and its annexure are also required to be furnished in the return

22 August 2008 If the return is filed belated, then filing of audit report to the department is required or not, if the assessee got his books of account audited by C.A. before due date?

24 August 2008 Circular No-5/2007 is still in the force and as per circular you are not required to file Audit Report before due date even if your return is belated.

In Simple words assessee is required to get accounts audited before due date and report is to be kept ready with him and to be produced on demand by I.T. department at any stage after due date or filing of return whichever is earlier.
