01 July 2023 I bought a property from a seller in Bangalore and I deducted TDS using a TAN and made the tax payment. I have the challan. I need to file my TDS return and provide Form 16A to the seller. To file my TDS return, the income tax portal is asking me to complete registration on TRACES. In TRACES, when I try to register as a deductor, it is asking for a PRN number but I do not have it because I have not filed the TDS return yet.

This is frustrating because I am just running in circles. To file TDS return I need to register in TRACES and to register in TRACES I need a PRN which I can only get by filing my return!

Could someone please help me with filing TDS return and obtaining Form 16A? Thank you in advance.

01 July 2023 In that link, it says "Step 2: Log in using your TAN details." I do not have a login, I need to register in IT portal using TAN to create a login. When I try to register it directs me to register in TRACES. To register in TRACES I need to have filed my return. To file my return I need to register in IT portal! That is the crux of my issue.

01 July 2023 If you do not have TAN, then how have you deposited the amount? filed form 26QB?

01 July 2023 I have a TAN. But to login in IT portal using TAN I need to register first. During the registration process it is redirecting me to TRACES.
