Field of work for company secretaries

I want to know whether company secretaries can work in areas like investment banking,broking,wealth management etc. I am a fresher C.S but i have more interest in the above fields.

CS is basically a qualification. A practicising CS can do several certifications and perform acts on the basis of the recognition given by various authorities. working in areas of investment banking etc are also open to a CS as they are open to other individuals.
For working as a broker, advisor etc, SEBI has mandated certification to be obtained from specific authority. Upon obtaining such certfication, a cs can work in those fields as well. But practising simultaneously might not possible.

But i have heard that C.A or MBA are preferred in these fields.What should i do

Definitely CA and MBA are preferred qualifications to work in Banking, wealth management etc. If you are interested in those areas, then also go for CA or MBA
