Kindly clarfy whether TDS is applicable on rent paid for Participation in Exhibition.

16 March 2011 It depends upon the billing pattern.
If the service provider has charged seperate bill for rentals of space, furniutre etc specifically mentioning of rent charges in the bill & seperately for other services then Sec 194 I will be applicable on rental bills. But if this is consolidated bill without any specifications towards rental words etc then also it is covered by Sec 194 C. So please check your case accordingly.
