27 July 2011 Could you please explain in detail whether the exemption of filing of IT return if the income is below Rs.5 Lacs is applicable for Professionals like Doctor.

27 July 2011 it is only for salaried employees having Interest income upto 10,000/-..that too certain conditions are mentioned where benefir is not available

27 July 2011 No Exemption not available. For salaried taxpayers only.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes has notified the scheme exempting salaried
taxpayers with total income up to Rs.5 lakh from filing income tax return for assessment year 2011-12, which will be due on July 31, 2011.
