Excise registration/return

30 October 2008 Dear Sir,

Is separate registration/filing of return required if a company have place of business in more than one state?

Kindly guide me in this context.

for each place of business you required to take separate registration of excise and required to submit return.

How ever there is a provision in excise to take one registration for place of business whcich falls under same commissionerate

31 October 2008 not required....you have to do in single return..but you can file when books are maintained and finalising seperately then you can file return seperately.....

31 October 2008 Dear Harinder,

Let us suppose that a company has its corporate office in Maharashtra and also a place of activity at Madhya Pradesh.(a)Do the company required to take two excise registration(-for Maharashtra & M.P)? (b) Do it has to file two excise return-one for Maharashtra & another for M.P.?

Company has to take registration in other state also,

but...

on First Registration in Maharashtra they will provide you a unique regn. no. comensing with PAN of company & closing with "XM001"

&

On second regn in MP they will provide you regn no. i.e. comensing with PAN but closing with "XM002"

for third if any it will be XM003 & so on..
