why we have to file quarterly er6 and annually er 5

If you have paid total duty of rupees One Crore (PLA+Cenvat)in the previous financial year, you have to file ER6 return in the current year and also you have to file ER5 return. If your duty payment is less than one crore in previous year, no need to file the ER6 and ER5 returns.
