Excise Duty Rate on CN Melt.

01 March 2008 We are manufacturer of CN Melt and upto 29-02-08 excise duty rate was @ 16.48% now after new budget what will be the new excise rate and from when it will be effective? Anybody can help me in this matter? Thanks & waiting for reply

03 March 2008 Refer notification no.02/2008 dated 1.3.2008 and if your product is covered under any of those chapter heading then excise duty rate w.e.f. 01.03.2008 is 14.42%.

If you can provide the chapter heading of your product then I may be easily able to reply correctly.

However all the product which were paying 16.48, now stand reduced to 14.42%.
