28 February 2013 We are dealing in T shirts.Please note that in the current budget excise duty has been exempted.
Since when it is effective.
Please reply back immediately.Is it from 1 March 2013 onwards or what?
Please give me clarity.

08 March 2013 BEFORE BUDGET, EXCISE DUTY @ 12% WAS APPLICABLE ON BRANDED GARMENTS, WHICH HAS BEEN REDUCED BY 6% WITH AVAILING THE FACILITY OF CENVAT CEREDIT ON INPUTS VIDE NOTIFICATION NO. 8/2013 CE DTD. 01.03.13. 6% is applicable on following description of chapter 61, 62 and 63.:-

"All goods of cotton, not containing any other textile material,"

FURTHER, VIDE ANOTHER NOTIFICATION NO. 11/2013 CE DTD. 01.03.13, EXCISE DUTY IS NIL ON ALL GOODS OF CHAPTER 61, 62 AND 63, WITHOUT AVAILING THE FACILITY OF CENVAT CREDIT ON INPUTS OR INPUT SERVICES.

FOR ABOVE NOTIFICATIONS, PLEASE ALSO SEE THE NOTIFICATION NOS. 30/2004CE DTD. 09.07.04 AND 7/2012 CE DTD. 17.03.12.
