Excel formula for daily attendance

23 October 2012 Dear sir,

For Attendance, In Excel sheet we are putting the name of employees and filling the cells with their present by "P" and "A" for absence. Now we would like to count how much "P" are there in the raw towards employee name, Please advice which formula we have to use here.

Suppose data P or A is in column 2 to 32

Formula for counting P is

=COUNTIF(B1:AF1,"P")

Formula for counting A is

=COUNTIF(B1:AF1,"A")
