26 June 2025 Dear Sir,

If we have an Indian company, and not paid any Equalisation levy tax during the year FY 2024-25

it is mandatory to file NIL Return of Equalization Levy Form No. 1.

If yes then

Any option available on portal for file NIL return.

Please suggest.

12 August 2025 Is filing NIL Return under Equalization Levy mandatory?
Yes, if your Indian company is liable to pay Equalization Levy but has no transactions attracting the levy (i.e., no tax payable), you are still required to file a NIL return for the relevant financial year under Form No. 1.
This is to comply with the statutory reporting requirements and avoid penalties.
Is there an option to file NIL return on the portal?
The official Equalization Levy portal (https://onlineservices.tin.egov-nsdl.com/etaxnew/etax.html) provides an option to file NIL returns.
When you log in and select Form No. 1 (Annual Return), you can choose to file a return with zero transactions and zero tax payable.
The form will allow submission without any payment and will serve as a NIL return.
