Employer not clear dues- any law against this

I have changed my job. According to clause in appointment letters i have gave 30 days notice period in my last company. 45 days after my previous employer has not yet paid my dues.I want to know if it is a law, that employers have to clear dues some day to their Employees.

File a money suit demanding payment of salary withheld and file complaint with labour commissioner.
