Employee PF withdrawal in ITR

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
If an employee withdraws their EPF balance in one financial year after leaving service in a previous one, and has only interest income, they should declare the EPF withdrawal under Schedule Exempt Income, Section 10(11). Interest from a savings account is reported under 'Income from Other Sources'. Check Form 26AS/AIS for TDS details and include them in the Schedule TDS. EPF received after 5 years of service is not taxable, but requires disclosure in the ITR.

11 September 2025 Declare the EPF withdrawal amount under Schedule Exempt Income, Section 10(11).
Show savings account interest under “Income from Other Sources”—
Check Form 26AS/AIS for any TDS details; enter these in Schedule TDS of the return.
No tax is payable on EPF received after 5 years of service; only disclosure in ITR is required.
Interest income from the savings bank account should be reported as “Income from Other Sources”. TDS refund may be claimed if deducted erroneously.

19 September 2025 Good Luck...
