eligibility for HRA

17 May 2009 Dear all,

I reside at Moradabad and receive HRA from my employer. I am going to purchase a flat for my sister in Noida which would be in my name. Will it make me disqualified for receiving HRA from my employer.
Please suggest the remedies also.

17 May 2009 As far as you are living in Moradabad, and paying the rent over there, there shall not be any problem in HRA. The allowabilty of HRA depends on the rent paid in the city of working. If you have any house at the place other then the place of working, it does not make any difference.
