Income tax department has made efiling mandatory for all tax audit cases from AY 2010-11. What would be the consequence if the same is manually filed by the assessee.

It is being mandatory from AY2011-12 and not from AY2010-11. If it is filed manually then according to me it will be treated as defective return u/s 139(9) and will be treated as it was never filed.

My view, Department will not accept the paper return even assessee try to file also. they will refuse to take.

Hi,
If the case in of individual assessee than for A.Y 10 -11 Department may accept the Return .as same is being mandatory from AY 2011-12 and not from AY2010-11. Department will not accept the same for Companyfor 10 11 and A. Y 11 -12 for any assessee . Even If it is filed manually then according to me it same will be treated as defective return u/s 139(9) and void retrun never filled withe department .
