Tax is generally charged on individual, wealth ,income and services etc whereas duty is charged on goods ,manufacture etc. Scope of tax is wide in comparison to duty.Tax is direct tax and indirect tax. Duty is custom duty,excise duty.Tax is mandatory obligation payable to govt and duty is govt impose fee on goods ,manufacture.
