Doubt on income tax return

01 August 2013 Sir, I have salary income only on which i paid tds amounting to rs 1388.My saving bank interest is around rs 5000.Is it mandatory to file return or not.

01 August 2013 if your aggregate total income is less then the basic slab eg.rs2,00,000 for non senior male then no need to file return as per law.

but if you want tds refund of Rs.1,388 then you need to file itr-1.

For bank int from savings bank a/c you can get deduction under sec80TTA upto Rs.10,000.

01 August 2013 TDS means your tax has been deducted or you have paid the Tax.
