DOUBLE PAYMENT OF TDS

09 June 2009 I HAD MADE THE DOUBLE PAYMENT OF TDS ON INTEREST PAID BY ME ON 31.3.2009 BY MISTAKE.

I DONT WANT TO CLAIM REFUND FROM INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT SO CAN IT BE ADJUSTED WITH THE SAME SECTION ?

MY NEXT INTERST PAYMENT WILL HELD IN 31.03.2010 WILL I CAN ADJUST MY DOUBLE PAYMMENT TDS IN 31.03.2010 WILL IT NOT BE TOO LATE ..????

AND AT LAST HOW WILL I FILE MY TDS RETURN FOR THE 4TH QUATER OF 2010...???

PLZ HELP ME....

09 June 2009 You can not get the refund of excess TDS paid. You have to issue the TDS certificate of the total amount paid. The deductee can claim the refund of excess of tax paid. Uptill now you might not have filed the TDS return therefore adjust the TDS amount with your nearer & dearer, file your TDS return accordingly. Claim the refund in income tax. You can not adjust the double payment of TDS in next year.

09 June 2009 Now there is no way to claim back your TDS deposited twice. The only option is to claim the excess deposit of TDS in income tax return through showing it in form 16.
