SIR,I AM NEWLY JOINED ARTICAL STUDENT.ONE OF MY CLIENT RECEIVED PENSION FROM LIC.PLEASE TELL WHETHER IT IS TAXABLE UNDER THE HEAD "SALARIES" BECAUSE LAST YEAR SOFTCOPY OF HIS TOTALINCOME SHOWS PENSION CHARGED AS SALARY INCOME.IF YES,WHAT DOCUMENTS IN PROFF CAN I ASK.THANK'S IN ADVANCE.

pension from LIC (if id is under some pension plan) should be included in income from other sources. Please check whether the said assessee was an employee with LIC or not. In case he was an employee, then pension shall be included in salary.

Its right, if he was an employee with LIC then pension is to be shown under Salaries,
However, Family pension received comes under Income from other source...
