05 May 2013 Hi, I have registered a partnership firm in Assam. I am in requirement of CST and VAT registration, recently I have applied for Firm PAN (not yet receive). Should I required TIN no. before applying CST and VAT. I haven't made firm ITR right now nor even personal. So request you to guide me as a required CST in next 2-3 months as my goods comes from other states.

Whenever you do any interstate purchases and sales you need to register under state VAT and CST Acts and TIN no,irrespective of the quantity or value involved...mjk

16 June 2013 You have not stated the place of your business in Assam if you are at Guwahati then you have to go to Aprksya Kar Bhawan and file the application and form for getting registration under CST as well as VAT. Before taking registration you have to apply for PAN and TAN number as VAT and CST registration is based on PAN number. The ITR shall be made only after completion of 1 year or part of the year ended on 31st March
