How does a company pay dividend to a shareholder who has bought shares from a broker? Does the company's share registry maintain the particulars of such shareholders?

In case of Listed Companies register of members is maintained by RTA (Registrar & Transfer Agent)

yes all those who are registered as share holders as members in the regisitered maintained for this purpose on date of declaration of dividend are entitled for same.
