Myself and my father were running a partnership firm since last 5 years. My father expired during June,2013 and I took over the firm business as sole proprietor. Now, whether submitting Dissolution Deed in IT department is mandatory ?

you need to intimate AO under section 176....what documents AO ask for later on depends on his discretion and asking for dissolution deed is very much within his powers.

you have to intimate with your AO with death certificate of your father .
