As far as powers of a director are concerned there is no difference between director and adiitional director.
However from appointment point of view there are certain difference between director and adiitional director.
1. Additional dir appoint is governed by section 260. You may later on appointment his as director u/s 257.
2. Normally a director is appointed by shareholders but additional dir is appointed by the board of directors u/s 260.
