19 August 2011 hey guys i ve doubt here plz solve it

what is d diffirence between govt. audit and audit of govt. companies

19 August 2011 Audit at the initiation of the Govt. is called Govt. Audit. If the Govt sends its own Auditors for the purpose of audit at the place of auditee, then it can be called Govt. Audit.
.

Like every Company a Govt. Company is also required to get its account audited. If you go on audit as an auditor you can say that
- "I am going on audit of govt. companies"

19 August 2011 thank u so much sir

22 August 2011 Govt audit is commonly referred to audit conducted by the Comptroller & Auditor General of India (CAG) which basically audits the govt departments, the report of which is sent to President of India & the report is discussed in Parliament.

Audit of govt companies need not be compulsorily audited by CAG, independent auditors (Chartered Accountants) are appointed to conduct the audit. The report is laid before the AGM of the company.
