No, Cash and Rebate are not at all same. Rebate can b termed as a discount in some cases. Like in Service Tax payment Transporters get Rebate of 70% on the Taxable Services and they have to paid tax on remaining amount.

Cash Discount is generally given for immediate/quicker payment of dues on the other hand rebate is a type of special exemption on specific items as notified by the Govt.
