Dear Group Members,
We forgot to pay service tax liability for the month of march 09 which was to be paid upto 31st march 09. Can any one tell me about the INTEREST & PENALTY consequences separately.

Interest applicable @13% per annum and penalty is 2% per month
However penalty may be waived, if paid on your own and can be debated.

Just pay with interest no penalty will be levied.

Thank you, Dayal & Tushar. There is one more Issue. Actually we had applied for registration and charged for Servive tax on A/F status. We haven't got Registration No. Yet payment. What will be the manner of payment then????

Without a service tax registration you should not collect service tax. When you have applied especially service tax number will be given on same day unless and until there is some documents or information is missing. I think you have not folled up with the department.
Kidly follow up with the department and ge the number and pay immediately. The bills which you have raised and given to persons cannot claim input benefit because you are not authorised issue service tax bill.
