Deductions for school fees

18 March 2011 Dear Sir,
As per I.T. act tuition fees paid will be eligible for deduction u/s 80c.
But in many cases the wording written on school fees receipt is either school fees or acedemic fees.

Will this be eligilbe for dedcution

18 March 2011 no school fees or acedemic fees. the word clearly mention Tution fees only eligible

19 March 2011 With due respect to Ramesh Sir I think it will be eligible for deduction u/s 80C.
My logic behind this is school fees is also tuition fees basically . The only change is the word which is printed on the receipt but it doesn't change the application of fund.
Other views are welcome

24 March 2011 But sir what if the school fees receipt is in any other language other than english.
In that case they will not mention tuition fees but will use some hindi, gujarati marathi other regional language word.

What should be done in that case
