06 November 2009 Tell me the limit of deduction u/s 80U for the person with severe disability for the AY 2010-11.

Was this 75K or raised to 1L. Please confirmed.

06 November 2009 It is Rs.75000/- The limit is raised in section 80DD and not in 80U.

06 November 2009 The limit of Rs.75000 has been increased to Rs.100000 with effect from the AY 2010-2011. Kindly refer to Direct tax Ready reckoner it is clearly mentioned.

Section 80U

The following proviso shall be inserted after the existing proviso of sub-section (1) of section 80U by the Finance (No. 2) Act, 2009, w.e.f. 1-4-2010 :

Provided further that for the assessment years beginning on or after the 1st day of April, 2010, the provisions of the first proviso shall have effect as if for the words seventy-five thousand rupees, the words one lakh rupees had been substituted.
