One of my friend is a (bachelor)handicapped person and working as a bank employee.He wants to file his return.
Can any one of u guide me under wht sections he himself can claim deduction.
One more his father pays a premium on his name and his father claims it as he is also an employee.
So now the handicapped person can also claim the deduction of premium while filing return or only u/s 80U and any more....

Hi Vishnu,
He can claim deduction under section 80U of the Income Tax Act,1961.
He can claim dedcution Upto Rs.50,000 and if there is severe disability he can claim upto Rs.1,00,000 .
Every individual claiming a deduction under this section shall furnish a copy of the certificate issued by the medical authority in the form and manner, as may be prescribed21, along with the return of income under section 139, in respect of the assessment year for which the deduction is claimed .

Dear Friend, Your friend can claim deduction in 80C, 80D as well in 80U also. He can get benefir U/s. 80C upto Rs. 100000/-, 80D Rs. 15000/- and 80U maximum Rs. 100000/-.
