16 December 2010 Will the courier service for tranport of goods from J&K to other parts of India be taxable...taking into account that service tax is not applicable on services in J&K.

16 December 2010 Service tax is not applicable in J&K but service receivable in outside j&K then applicable Service tax.because it is facility for J&K people not outside J&K.

16 December 2010 Suppose mr. x is service provider in J&K & mr. y is client whose office is in J&K.
mr. y avails service of mr.x to send goods to maharashtra...will service tax apply?

16 December 2010 If Goods Sent to Maharashtra Then Service Tax is Applicable.

Because Service provided at Outside JK.
as Where The Service is Provided is Important.

16 December 2010 in your question is not clear that where is services uses. if Y services use in j& K and goods sent to maharashtra then service tax is not applicable but if Y use service outside the J&K state in regard good then difinetely ST applicable
