Please understand that no allowance is tax free - you may get deductions if specifically provided under different provisions, e.g. Sec. 10(13A) provides deductions against HRA if conditions are fulfilled. As regards conveyance allowance you may claim a deduction of Rs. 800 per month u/s 10(14).
