Compliance to notice from it for nonfiling of it returns

06 April 2014 My friend has received notice from Incometax department for non-filing of IT Returns for the financial year 2009-10 and 2010-11. He has misplaced ITR V FOR THE BOTH THE YEARS.He has only salary income. Incometax has deducted fully from his salary by the employer and remitted to bank. From 16 issued by the employer for both the years. Due to non avaialabilty, he is unable to give compliance. Pl advise as to how we can comply with income tax notice regarding non filing of returns.

07 April 2014 Hi,

Please visit office of A.O. in case return has been filed and get it checked in there system. But in my opinion, since notice has been sent and no acknowledgement is available so ITR may not have been filed.

Also, in Form 16, employer deduct tax on only salary component of Income whereas Assessee may have other income as well or atlest would surely have bank interest income on which tax was to be paid
