child education fees in case of specified employes

This query is : Resolved

28 February 2011 If fees paid for full time education by employer is taxable in hands of employee, whether such fees is eligible for 80C Deduction.

28 February 2011 Educational Allowance :
100 per month per child max. up to 2 children of the assessee.

If you treat it as an allowance, I hesitate to say that you can claim 80C.

But if the said amount is taken as fully taxable in your hands , then you can claim 80C to the extent of tuition fee included in the overall school fee.
(max. up to 2 children of the assessee. )

01 March 2011 sir my question is different, i am asking about free education to specified employes, which is taxable in hands of employes but whether we claim such fees as deduction in 80c

01 March 2011 Sorry, for not properly grasping the intentions.

However, in the case of tuition fee paid by the employee for himself is not eligible for deduction U/s 80C. This will not make any difference even if the company is making payment.

80C (1)(vii) covers only two children of the assessee as clarified in Section 80C(4).
