Change in excise registration category

20 July 2015 A company registered as a dealer under Central Excise wants to start manufacturing activity. But initially it shall get it done on a job work basis from an outside entity (i.e. it shall act as a Principal Manufacturer).

Kindly enumerate the formalities as regards registration and thereafter under Excise Laws...

first of all you have to set up Factory for mfg of the product. then apply for the Excise Registration as mfg. please note that you can not carry of Trading and Mfg at the same place having common registration.

In your situation, if you want to get all process of mfg done by Job Worker, please ask him to pay Excise Duty .

I was talking about trading registration in category of 'First/Second stage dealer'. Please again clarify from this angle.

Also please specify if it is possible for job worker could get exempted from payment of any duty (in case main manufacturer undertakes to pay duty on final goods).

Kindly specify applicable legal section/notifications..

28 July 2015 Dear Prateek Ji,
You can take the registration of excise for the purpose of manufacturing of goods but upto 1.5 cr turnover you don't have need excise registration and no need to pay duty. If product are defenrent then do the trading and manufacturing from the same premises.
