19 July 2024 The eligibility requirements for CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) program are as follows:

1. **Education Requirement**:
- You must have a bachelor's (or equivalent) degree or be in the final year of your bachelor's degree program at the time of registration.
- There is no restriction on whether the bachelor's degree needs to be obtained internally or externally. As long as it is recognized and accredited by a government or an accredited institution, it qualifies.

2. **16 Years of Education**:
- Yes, it is true that you need to have completed at least 16 years of education to be eligible for the CFA program. This typically means you should have completed a bachelor's degree program or equivalent.

3. **Sequence of Education**:
- You can pursue CFA after completing your B.Com (either internal or external) or after completing CA. Both paths are acceptable.
- If you have an external B.Com degree and are pursuing CA, you can still apply for the CFA program provided you meet the 16 years of education requirement.
- Similarly, if you complete M.Com internally, it fulfills the educational requirement for CFA, provided you have completed at least 16 years of education in total.

4. **Documentation Requirement**:
- When applying for the CFA program, you will need to submit proof of your education, such as transcripts or degree certificates. External degrees are accepted as long as they are from recognized institutions.

5. **Practical Experience**:
- In addition to the educational requirement, you need to have 4,000 hours of relevant work experience in investment decision-making or a similar role. This requirement can be completed before, during, or after passing the CFA exams.

In summary, you can pursue CFA after completing your B.Com (internally or externally) or after completing CA. The key is to ensure you meet the educational requirement of at least 16 years of education from a recognized institution. M.Com completed internally also fulfills this requirement. It's important to verify the specific details and requirements on the official CFA Institute website or by contacting them directly for the most accurate information based on your individual circumstances.
