Please guide me for below query
When we receive certain shares in exchange of old shares
E.g
The Great Eastern Shipping Corporation of India Ltd 1000 shares
Exchanged for
G.E Shipping 800 Shares
Great Offshore 200 Shares
on certain day
Shall I compute Capital gain on merger
date
or date of holding such old share
When we receive certain shares in exchange of old shares

Period of holding will be calculated from the date of acquisition of the old shares.
