one of my client received house property by way of gift from his grandfather, said property was pagri system(Not Ownership)before 4 years, now after 4 years that property went in to Redevelopment and that all tenants became owner by registered purchase Deed with Developers , now my question is in case if my client wants to sale that property in that situation whatever capital gain will araise will be treated as short term or Long term Capital gain.

short term or long term will depend upon the period of holding. 36 months in case of immovable property.
