14 April 2013 No, it is not allowed.Input tax paid on purchases of office stationery,furniture,equipment/machinery,fuel for office vehicles,catering/canteen etc can not be taken credit because they are not sold out or not used in the processing/manufacturing of products sold...mjk

17 April 2013 Under Rule 52 (a) of Maharashtra Value Added Tax Rule, 2005 claimant Dealer is entitle to claim input credit on purchases of goods being capital assets and the goods the purchases of which are debited to profit and loss account or debited to trading account. the purchases of printing and stationary on which tax is separately charged will be eligible for input tax credit subject to other provisions applicable for grant of setoff in MAHARASHTRA.
