03 August 2013 one of my assessee received refund and the bank a/c no.mentioned on the refund cheque is
closed.can he deposit that cheque in another
bank which he opened recently?

03 August 2013 Write a letter to state bank of india tax refund branch address mentioned on cheque requesting bank to reissue refund cheque mentioning new account details account number, bank branch, Micr ,ifsc code. Send original refund cheque along the letter. Same letter also write to income tax officer cpc Bangalore.

08 August 2013 Bank will not clear the cheque since the refund cheque can only be deposited in the account number mentioned on the cheque.
