I wish to join a company as internal auditor and the company is offering me a payroll. I suppose I have to surrender my COP for the same and then only I can join as internal auditor on payroll.

Yes you had to Surrender your COP if you join the company as an employee.

Suresh Ji is right, because when you join the company as full time employee then you have to surrender your certificate of pratice.
