Below Limit Income Tax Return

14 July 2009 Can a person having below limit income file a return?I think its allowed.but whenever i take such returns to Income Tax Dept they are not accepting it,saying this is below limit.What should I do?

14 July 2009 how cant they accept.
they have to accept it....
u can freely file it returns without having crossed income tax limit

14 July 2009 Individuals or HUF or an AOP or BOI or Artificial Jurdicial person is mandatorily liable to file the return of income u/s 139(1) if the total income without giving effect to the provisions of sections 10A or 10AA or 10B or 10BA or chapter VI-A exceeds the maximum amount not chargable to income tax.
In view of the provision explained herein above the department's stand in the cited issue is correct.
