Articleship in big four

13 November 2013 I really want to do my articleship in one of the Big Fours. But, I'm from Guwahati, Assam so I want to know where these firms/companies are situated so I can know which city I'd need to move to. Are any of them located in Mumbai? Also, is it better to work for a mid sized firm and then shift to Big Four? Could you also give me a fair estimate of how much stipend they pay? Thanks..

13 November 2013 all the Big 4 are located in Mumbai, delhi, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and other places too. The stipend in first year should be around 7-8 thousand per month which can go upto 20 thousand in third year.

the trade off between small firm and Big 4 depends on your choices. If you want brand name, exposure to large companies and jobs industry, you should go for Big 4. however, if you want to set up your own practice, choose small/medium firms.

13 November 2013 Working in mid size or Big 4 doesn't make a big deal,
The kind of work you handle, the quantum of knowledge you get that matters...
There are many students and millions of CAs who had done their articleship in mid range firm but nowadays working in big companies or running Big CA firms...

The main thing is quality of work you do while pursuing your CA final studies...

However, working in BIG 4 may work as a key....
