Though it does not hold good in all the circumstances, yet metro cities as compared to small cities holds edge as they have all the big companies in their municipal limit.
So a firm having presence in such cities will have a better exposure in terms of auditing, consulting etc. Also in these cities apart from traditional services you may get the advantage to learn other contemporary services as well.

Frankly speaking the maximum you will devote the time the better it would be.
But the last 60 days leave is ideal (also depends on your employer) alongwith daily regular study.
